Library Programming Opportunities Throughout the Summer
The Winter Public Library has several opportunities for youth and family to participate in throughout the summer. The library offers a Wednesday night hour for elementary and middle school aged youth to participate in at the library from 6:00 –6:45 p.m. The hour includes books, an activity based on the book (usually STEM related), as well as guest speakers. Beginning July 12th, the library is partnering with UW-Extension FoodWise coordinator, Lisa Wydra. Lisa will be incorporating her program into our summer reading program that will engage the youth on Wednesday nights using food, fun and our current curriculum.
New this year is a Saturday Story Hour for youth age 0-5. This program is offered on July 1st, July 15th, July 29th, and July 12th at the library from 10-10:30 a.m. Story hour includes books, songs, dance and crafts as well as snacks. Come join the fun!
We would not want to leave out our adult patrons, so we will again be offering incentives to read this summer. Check out books, return them and receive a raffle ticket for each item returned. The ticket is entered into a raffle bucket and at the end of the summer, winners will be drawn from the bucket for prizes donated or purchased from local businesses. We will also be offering “bonus” weeks in which patrons can earn more raffle tickets by completing a specific task.
Lastly, new to the library this summer is Bike to the Library. Each time a person, adult or youth, rides their bike to the library, they can enter their name into a raffle for fabulous prizes such as bike helmets, water bottles, etc. No need to register for this summer activity!
